just testing
I just wanted to see if I could still send pictures from my phone.
Ok. Here's the deal. I am dying to get an iPhone even though I am ok with my Palm Treo for now. Also, I can't stand it that my wife has not one, but FOUR Apple toys (5G iPod, iPhone, Shuffle, MacBook Pro) that are newer than mine (3G iPod & G5 iMac). With this in mind I have sworn to myself that I wouldn't break down and get a new phone till Apple releases the next generation of the iPhone. Why? Because my current phone just had its' first birthday and I am waiting for 3G network version. Blah blah blah... this is all what my conscious brain tells me. Apparently my sub-conscious has other plans.
My Treo has a nice stripe of dust running right down the middle of the screen. I occasionally think of myself as a tinkerer so I decided I want to open up the case of the phone to give a cleaning with some canned air. I am so inspired that I even go out and get a special screwdriver and search the web for video instructions on dismantling my $300 smartphone. I take it apart (including disconnecting ribbons and wires) and am obviously frustrated to discover that the LCD screen is so sealed that I can't get to the dust. So, I carefully close it all back up and hope for the best.
Cutting the story short–after 4 repeat openings and closings of the case I seem to have all the functionality back (it took 3 tries to get the screen to turn back on) except one minor bit. The microphone no longer works. I call people and can hear them fine, but they can't hear me. Kind of a crucial item you would think.
I am trying to convince myself, and my wife, that I didn't do this as an excuse to go out and buy an iPhone right this very minute. It is very difficult, but I am going to try and make due with the dorky, wired, hands-free headset that came with the phone. I'll feel like a tool, and look like my brother (love you Guano), but I'll still have $400 in my account till, hopefully, the next Apple announcement.
P.S. Oh yeah. The pic is of the pizziolo at Parisi, here in Denver. The food is delicious, if a little expensive for glorified counter service.

We're number one!
been there. done that.
We hit this Times Square chain pizza joint on our first trip to NYC back in the winter of 2003. It was actually my first taste of NY-style pizza in New York. meh... On this trip I am starving and haven't eaten a real meal (half a banana for breakfast and a bag of airplane pretzels don't count) in 21 hours. I still decide to wait for something better.
I can see myself!

out shoppin
Update: This is actually the piano we purchased that day. A very lightly-used Baldwin that sounds fantastic and looks great in our living room (lines and wood color go great with our mid-century Eames chairs).

the best part of seeing spider-man 3
I can't stress enough how horrible this movie was. I was a fan of numbers 1 & 2. If you enjoyed those at all, I suggest you don't ruin the memory of them by seeing #3. Here are just a few of the HUNDREDS of faults in this movie...
- Kirsten Dunst singing
- cuddling on a web
- Tobey Maguire strutting
- Tobey Maguire acting tough
- Tobey Maguire acting goth
- Tobey Maguire dancing
- too many villains
- even more singing
The ONLY thing I liked, were the the Sandman effects. That's it. At least we got to goof off with the life-sized Simpsons Movie display.

i can't help myself
Some days I get good ideas. Some days I get very creative ideas. Today I got neither, so I made this on CafePress. Paris Hilton is headed off to jail. Whoop-dee-doo. I could say the news inspired me, but clearly that is not the case. Now I am not suggesting you buy something. But, it certainly wouldn’t bother me if you persuaded some of your less “classy” acquaintances to do a little shopping.

Oh yeah! Don’t forget my hip, “talkin’ jive” line as well. It’s DOPE. All the fly kids be sportin’ that gear.
OK, now I am completely humiliated. Have a swell day.
